PREDENTAL OUTREACH
Case ASDA’s Predental Committee hosted Prep Me! Day, where 60+ predents filled the halls of West Lab at Case Western SODM to learn how to take impressions and pour up stone casts. Attendees included Ohio locals and even residents of Michigan and Pennsylvania, who drove for hours to meet at the event. Armed with curiosity and enthusiasm, these predental students investigated scholarship opportunities from guest speakers, mingled with current dental students at an informal Q&A, and dove into bowls of alginate and microstone to masterfully craft impressions from typodonts. This event was a great success due in large part to the fantastic support from the Case Dental student body with equipment-lending and in-person volunteering (thank you!). Bestowed with beautiful stone casts and friendships, many predental students left while asking about when the next Prep Me! Day would be held!
The journey continues as the Predental Committee spearheads the Mentor-Mentee Program at Case Western SODM. Current dental student mentors will be paired with predental mentees in one-on-one communication. After exchanging contact information, mentees will have experiential guidance from their mentors regarding DAT preparation, personal statement drafting, AADSAS submission, and even interview tips!
[Predental Day] was great to get a hands on feel of on some of what the school has to offer, including the high-tech drills with built in sensors, as well as meeting different year dental students. I just wanted to leave some positive feedback on how well the current dental students handled mentoring our group of pre-dental student, as well as how friendly and helpful James Chan was. This is a wonderful program and should be continued in the future.

I joined ASDA my second year of undergrad because I was not completely sure how difficult applying to dental school would be. When I signed up, I received a "How To" Guide to the application process along with a book of all the dental schools in the nation with a quick rundown of what each school required. This made it very easy to compare schools and choose those which would fit me best. Now in dental school, ASDA is letting me reach out to pre-dental students, just like I was. Our ASDA Pre-Dental committee works hard to provide the tools necessary to make applying to dental school a little less stressful. We just started our mentor-ship program, and we host fun events such as First Impressions Day and Pre-Dental Day while also hosting information based events such as tours and mock interviews. Being a part of ASDA connects the pre-dental student with a plethora of options, information, and mentor-ship, and I would encourage them to join
